Peak Brewing – September 2019

September is upon us and with it comes the changing of the seasons and the changing of our spotlight brewery for the month. Change is good, really good if you like new beer. It’s been a very long time since we ventured out of the great state Colorado for our spotlight brewery but, I just couldn’t pass this one up. Peak Brewing from Maine has been brewing amazing creations on the east coast for many years. Their idea is simple. Find the best ingredients being grown to create amazing flavor and truly delicious beer. They work with amazing farmers around the north east who are truly growing some of the most fantastic hops, barley, and wheat in the United States. Sourcing directly from farms, they are able to help dive an amazing resurgence in sustainable agriculture in the north east, farming practices that put quality and flavor first and foremost.  These folks brew some fantastic beers and have also created some of the highest quality seltzers in the market. Pettyjohn’s will be featuring Peak’s products for September savings of up to $1.50 on four packs and six packs.

The Peak IPA is a unique beer featuring Simcoe, Amarillo and Nugget hops. There is no use of traditional bittering hops in this IPA, providing nothing but stimulating citrus and floral characteristics. Happy hour pilsner is masterfully designed. The Happy Hour is built to be crisp, clean and crushable. This beer is easy going and pairs well with everything, including another beer! Summer isn’t quite over with Summer Session. It is a traditional summer wheat beer that married a west coast pale ale. Locally grown wheat provides a complex mouth feel and Amirillo dry hopping gives off a citrusy aroma. The Sweet Tart Blueberry sour combines crisp, fruity goodness with a touch of sour that is entirely refreshing. With Blueberries grown from the drummer of Phish Jon Fishman and his wife Brair straight off of their farm, or Pharm. Brut IPA’s are big right now and so is Sparkle. An IPA that re-creates the experience of sipping on a super dry, effervescent champagne. Sparkle uses a wicked light grain bill and a special yeast strain to get a crisp bone-dry body. It’s a toast to a life’s Peak moments.  That covers Peak’s beer selection at Pettyjohn’s now on to their Hard Seltzer lineup. High Ball Seltzers are nothing but real ingredients and real color. If you didn’t know Seltzers are the number one adult beverage in the U.S. this year, Peaks High Balls are refreshing and craft brewed. Made with organic and non-GMO ingredients zero grams of sugar only 95 calories and no gross chemicals. They are the first of their kind. The first three introductions are Lemon Elderflower, Blackberry Lime, and Grapefruit Highbiscus. I know Maine’s peaks don’t stand up next to our Colorado Peaks, but I’m sure you will find that Peak Brewing stands up right next to any of Colorado’s fine brewing companies. So, embrace change and take a trip with Pettyjohn’s to Maine with a four pack or six pack of this exciting new introduction to our store.
