Winery Focus- by Ann Coppinger
Shannon Ridge High Elevation $8.99
We continue to look for wineries like this. Family-owned and operated usually equates “more bang for the buck”. This is not a huge conglomerate hiring a bevy of wine makers straight out of UC Davis. The family founded Shannon Ridge in 2001 on their mountain property in Lake County, California. All of the family’s vineyards are certified sustainably farmed.
The High Elevation Collection label was designed in 2016. The family wanted their labels to depict the unique mountain vineyard terroir of their home ranch in the High Valley AVA. The picture on the label is of Mount Konocti on Clearlake.
Our sale includes the 2015 Cabernet rated “88” by Wine Enthusiast, the rich and creamy 2016 Chardonnay, the polished 2016 Petite Sirah, the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc rated “89” by Wine Enthusiast, and the spicy oak-aged 2015 Wrangler Red.
These wines are incredible values and they all have one thing in common… delicious, lush, ripe fruit. I dare you to find handcrafted artisan wines at this price.
