From a group of small wineries scattered throughout Spain
The Honoro Vera wines reflect a vibrant and modern Spain, offering wines of high quality at an attractive price. Fruit for these wines is sourced from high-elevation, old vine Gil Family Estates vineyards in Jumilla, Calatayud and Rueda. The line was introduced in 2011.
The Gil family celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016. It was the great-grandfather Juan Gil Jiménez who decided to leave his job as a stone cutter and try his hand at making wine in Jumilla. It’s impressive to see the progression of such a large wine group, considering its humble origins and the area where they started. The group comprises over 1,400 hectares of own vineyards with production exceeding 8 million bottles. Gil Family Estates is one of Spain’s foremost wine producers skilled in the art of old vine indigenous grape growing combined with modern winemaking. The fourth generation’s nine siblings all have a stake in the company headed by Miguel and Ángel Gil.
This summer we’re floor-stacking Rioja, Monastrell, Garnacha, Blanco and Rosé.
All of these wines impressed us with their high aromatics and intense fruit concentration. We negotiated this deal a couple months ago and they are now arriving. Take advantage of these prices, they are the best bang for the buck
