Last weekend we took our hats off to Grads and Mothers and now we have the chance to put them back on and bundle up against the snow! We know the roads might not be taken care of, and that it’s not supposed to be this cold but we have four wines this week that are worth braving the weather for. While you’re here, try four of our Winery Focus wines from Matthew Fritz. These crowd-pleasing wines come in $4-6 off while supplies last. Tonight is an excellent chance to try before you buy for this weekend’s continued snowfall. Join us FREE, every Friday, 5-7pm. 21+
First up for the evening we have a relatively new wine to Pettyjohns, the Le Monde Pinot Grigio, and we can’t get enough of it. A pale amber in color, this wine shows its depth the moment it hits the glass. The nose is full of floral notes and is very clean. The palate is dry with white fruit, rose petal and a light salinity giving the wine is character backed by a slightly heftier mouth-feel. The finish is clean with bright acidity and a touch of spice that rounds out this bottle nicely. Perfect for pairing with lighter foods or appetizers but with enough body to stand up to heavier fish as well, this versatile Pinot Grigio is one you won’t want to miss!
Chateau Souverain Chardonnay- Reg. $16.99 SALE $9.99
Up next we have the chardonnay from Chateau Souverain, our featured Chardonnay for month! Chateau Souverain Chardonnay is another wine that is hard not to love, especially at this price! Starting off the wine has inviting aromas of lemon citrus, roasted pear and light notes of spice before leading into elegant layers of pineapple and toasted oak. Full-bodied on the palate without being overwhelming, it has a balanced acidity with a lengthy and flavorful finish. A wine we are happy to be featuring, come trying this awesome bottle while we have it open!
Pendulum Cabernet Sauvignon- Reg. $17.49 SALE $11.99
Third up for the night we have the Pendulum Cabernet Sauvignon from Columbia Valley, Washington. The nose is intense with aromas of dark fruit, wet leather and herbal spices. On the palate, this full-bodied Cab is dense up front, with flavors of spicy black pepper, ripe blueberries and black plum that carry the wine from the start to close. Notes of leather, Red Delicious apple and toasty oak linger on the long and satisfying finish, all while being framed by firm and slightly tight tannins (it opens up beautifully with a bit of air). A perfect wine for any occasion, but especially nice in this weather, don’t pass up a chance to let this wine warm you up a bit!
Zorzal Terrior Unico Malbec- Reg. $15.99 SALE $13.99
Last up for the evening we have the Zorzal Terrior Unico Malbec. This wine has lived on our Malbec shelf for some time and has always been a store favorite and an easy buy. Dark Ruby in color, it pours beautifully with accompanying aromas of black fruit and spice. The wine has well defined fruit as it enters the mouth and has great volume with a very particular texture resulting from the chalky soils. Its tannins are sharp, making it very direct, with nerve and a very long finish. Another great wine to warm up with, if you haven’t tried this one there is no better chance!
