“Red Hot Summer”

17 Wine Cocktails

Aveleda Vino Verde- Reg. $10.99 SALE $8.99

Rather than spending exorbitant sums on new oak barrels or seeking intensely ripe flavors, most inexpensive Portuguese wines are content to be simple, delicious enhancements to a meal. Whites in particular tend to be light and fresh, recalling flowers and wet stones rather than aggressively fruity, chemical concoctions. Aveleda, which produces many of our favorite Portuguese wines, has mastered this art.
Lemon, lime, a refreshingly chalky minerality, and blistering acidity make this a great choice with food or by itself on a hot day.

Chateau Trians Rose- Reg. $18.99 SALE $15.99

Second up for the night we have the Château Trians Rosé. A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Cinsault and 10% Syrah, this wine exhibits aromas and flavors of strawberry, cranberry and floral notes on a lengthy, refreshing finish; the ultimate thirst-quencher. Warning:  You’ll want to stock up on at least one bottle of Trians Rosé per person for your outdoor grilling party, or you might be running back here to pick up more. That being said we are always happy to see you!

Flaco Tempranillo- Reg. $16.99 SALE $9.99

Third up for the evening we have the Flaco Tempranillo. Silky and sweet on the palate, offering intense but edge-free raspberry and spicecake flavors. A wine of noteworthy elegance, especially for the money. Finishes sappy, floral and long, with lingering red fruit character and just a hint of tannins. This vibrant, emphatically fruity, pure Tempranillo was raised in a combination of large concrete and stainless steel tanks. A perfect wine for the Summer heat.

Acentor Garnacha- Reg. $13.99 SALE $11.99

Last up for the evening we have the Acentor Garnacha. This Garnacha gets its complexity from old vines, which yield smaller, more concentrated fruit, and a colder climate, which develops tannins in the grapes. The nose is awesome; there’s a spicy, lightly peppery edge to this Garnacha’s bright, plummy aromas. In the mouth it’s juicy and energetic, with bright raspberry and blueberry fruit edged in notes of spice, violets and orange peel. A great red wine for the summer, it pairs well with a variety of foods while still having enough character to stand on its own.
