Ann and one of her best friends Donna have embarked on their Walla Walla adventure! Their first visit of the day was to Abeja Winery. "I found an absolutely gorgeous Syrah co-fermented with a touch of Viognier. This made for a delicately complex Syrah with white flowers in the nose and gobs of red fruits from palate to finish."
"We tasted a full line of wines at L'école and spoke with Ben Dimitri in the tasting room. I was really surprised at the beautiful Chenin Blanc, It is not usually grow here. I tasted the new release of the renowned Ferguson. You can really distinguish the basalt soil in that Bordeaux blend."
Spring Valley Vineyard- "Today we were invited to a vineyard tour, barrel tasting, and lunch with wine maker Serge Leville. Many of the vines are still recovering from a hard frost last year, but I will say the 2014 vintage wines I tasted in the barrel are going to be some of the best ever. My favorites were the Merlot and Cabernet, which will go into their highly acclaimed Uriah bottling."
Last night Ann met Charles Smith of Charles Smith Wines. She seems to be having fun! Stay tuned for more Walla Wall updates...
"The first 2 courses were outside on the patio. There were about 20 people, all of us had traveled from all over the country for Spring Release weekend. We shared stories of which wineries we had visited and what local restaurants we had tried. Four star chef Rich Koby and his wife Cynthia created delicious treats perfectly paired with local wines." Looks like Ann is having a blast in Walla Walla, She continues her search for amazing new wines to bring into the store at an affordable price.
